Bill Nye Has A Challenge For People Who Think The World Is Flat

Bill Nye the Science Guy stopped by to promote his new Netflix show, Bill Nye Saves The World, which will tackle scientific topics through lively panel discussions.

The iconic TV scientist also had a few words to say about people who think the world is flat.

"Hey Flat Earth People! If you are out there, tell you what... get a car, rent a car and drive to the end of the earth. Send us some pictures."

Mr. Nye was referring to the recent uptick of news stories about famous basketball players who think the earth is legitimately flat. Kyrie Irving, Wilson Chandler, Draymond Green have all publically made statements about their flat theories. And though Shaquille O'Neal jokingly jumped on the bandwagon, he had to clarify that his flat earth comments were made in jest.

"This whole idea that you can have a belief, that you can just believe something so hard and that it is every bit as valuable or valid as facts or what is discoverable through the process of science is a troubling thing," Bill told us.

As the CEO of the Planetary Society, the world's largest non-profit space organization, Nye is an advocate for science education and reducing our environmental impact.

Bill Nye Saves The World will be a mix between his cult-favorite TV program Bill Nye The Science Guy, which ran on PBS from 1993-1997, and a late night talk short of sorts, complete with celebrity guest stars, musical performances and of course, mind-blowing scientific experiments. Season 1 includes the likes of Karlie Kloss, Steve Aoki and more.

The 13-episode series premieres this Friday, April 21, on Netflix!
