Julie Chen supports her man.
On Thursday (September 13), the Big Brother host sent a message of solidarity to her husband, CBS' former CEO Leslie "Les" Moonves. While signing off from BB, she looked at the camera and said, โFrom outside the โBig Brotherโ house, Iโm Julie Chen Moonves. Good night.โ It was the first time that she has used her husband's last name as her sign off on the show (she usually, she just says โJulie Chenโ), a move that came only days after Les was fired from the network following multiple accusations of sexual misconduct. The former CBS CEO has denied the claims, saying he never misused his โposition to harm or hinder anyoneโs career.โ
Julie's surprise sign off was met with shock, a Big Brother production source told People. โNo one was angry. It was more like โDid she just say that? I canโt believe she just said that.'โ The insider added, โEveryone knows that [her sign off was] a big โf**k youโ to CBS that she did it, because she never, ever refers to herself as anything but Julie Chen. Itโs sort of perfect when you think about it."
As fans know, Julie took some time away from The Talk, which she co-hosts, earlier this week, following Les' firing. Before her break, she did, however, address the scandal on the show. โSome of you may be aware of whatโs been going on in my life the past few days,โ she said. โI issued the one and only statement I will ever make on this topic on Twitter. And I will stand by that statement today, tomorrow, forever.โ
Back in July, after six women accused Les of sexual misconduct in a piece written by Ronan Farrow in The New Yorker, Julie tweeted: โI have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the late โ90s, and I have been married to him for almost 14 years. Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement.
