Need Help To Lose Some Weight? Here Are 6 Tips To Make It Easier

Maintaining a healthy weight or trying to lose those last few pounds can be hard, especially the ones we gained while in quarantine. Weight does tend to fluctuate so don't get discouraged when you don't see results or changes right away.

There is a documentary called "BETTER" where Harvard doctors explain how losing weight isn't always about counting your calories. JoAnn Manson, one of the doctors from the documentary, sat down with TODAY to talk about weight loss and how you can make the process easier.

Below are a few explanations about weight loss and how to lose weight a little easier:

  1. Cutting calories doesn't always work because if you don't eat enough, your body can slow down your metabolism which will make it harder to lose or maintain weight.
  2. Eating unhealthy foods can lead to weight gain.
  3. Focus on eating healthier foods such as: non-starchy vegetables, low-fructose fruits (berries), high-fiber carbs (whole grains, legumes, beans), unsaturated fats (olive oil, fish), and high quality proteins (lentils, salmon, shellfish).
  4. Eating healthy shouldn't make you feel deprived; you can indulge a little but just don't have unhealthy foods every day. Do a treat meal on the weekends or have a small treat everyday.
  5. Exercise is great for your overall health. When you build muscle, you can boost your metabolism to help you maintain a healthy weight.
  6. Measure your progress by seeing how your clothes fit and measure your waist every few weeks.
