Kendrick Lamar can officially add "Oscar Nominee" to his resume.
Kendrick Lamar continues to quietly break barriers in Hip-Hop as he’s been nominated for his first Oscar.
The Compton rapper curated the “Black Panther” soundtrack which is predicted to be a big winner on Oscar night.
Lamar wrote and performed original songs for the blockbuster’s soundtrack and collaborated with Jorja Smith, The Weeknd, and labelmate, SZA. It’s their song, “All the Stars” for which Lamar is nominated for best original song.
Competing against Lamar in the category is Dolly Parton, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Hudson. Lamar hasn’t publicly commented on the nomination but fans have been congratulating him via social media.
The Oscars kick off Monday, February 25th, 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
