Victoria Beckham is sharing the key factor to making her marriage to David Beckham go the distance.
In a new interview with Elle published Wednesday (September 17), the 51-year-old fashion designer revealed how she and the retired soccer star, 50, have kept their relationship going strong for nearly three decades. The couple have been married for 26 years, tying the knot in 1999 after two years together, and have welcomed four children during that time: sons Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14, per People.
According to Victoria, one of the most important aspects of a lasting marriage is to continue growing together.
"So often in relationships, one will say to the other, 'You've changed,'" she said. "Well, of course you've changed! You're a different person when you're 20 than when you're 50."
The Spice Girls alum also praised her husband for his continuous support and staying by her side through all of the ups and downs she faced while taking a risk with her business ventures.
"He believed in me when a lot of people didn't. He invested in me," she said. "At times I've been a laughingstock, people not taking my business seriously, but he always believed in me."
Victoria celebrated her 26th wedding anniversary in July, sharing a sweet throwback photo on Instagram of her and David sharing a kiss in a pool and penning a heartfelt message to her hubby.
"Another year, another chapter in our love story," she wrote. "I'm so proud of the beautiful family and life we've built together. You and our four incredible children complete me. I love you so much @davidbeckham xx Here's to 26 years!! xx"
