Dua Lipa is our girl! The 24-year-old English singer/songwriter stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, November 20, to celebrate the release of her hit new track āDonāt Start Nowā and revealed everything weāve wanted to know about her highly-anticipated forthcoming second album.
The two-time Grammy winner, who is dating model Anwar Hadid, also joined in on some fun and created a faux Hinge profile by revealing what sheād answer with the dating appās template questions.
āI love something interactive,ā Dua dished when asked what sheād write for the āidealā first date. āI would love to like go on a trip somewhere, like a drive to somewhere. If I was in LA, [like], if someone took me down to Malibu and showed me around somewhere I didnāt know very well.ā
When Seacrest, who is working remote traveling with Live With Kelly and Ryan, pointed out thatās too much time stuck with someone new, Dua joked sheād be fine because she can ātalk for ages.ā
āI donāt really like karaoke,ā Dua agreed with Seacrest when asked to pick her āgo-toā karaoke song. āā¦ But if I was to pick my favorite karaoke song it would be āChangesā by Tupac.ā
While sheās not actually on any dating apps, the āNew Rulesā songstress is all too familiar with dating and breakups ā and when an ex wants you back.
āThe message I wanted to portray with this is itās moving on; finding yourself in a happier position and being comfortable with that and not letting anyone get in the way of your happiness and realizing that you deserve to be happy regardless what the circumstance is,ā Dua dished of new power anthem āDonāt Start Now,ā in which she sings about an ex reappearing in her life. āā¦ I feel like thatās really important to remember going through anything in life is that your happiness should be your No. 1 priority.ā
The track is just a preview of what's to come from the songstress, who has wrapped recording her second studio album.Ā
āI chose to put this song out first because it really reflected what the rest of the stuff on the album is like,ā Dua teased. āā¦ Honestly [the whole album is] like a dancercise class ā the whole thing is pretty uptempo.ā
In fact, itās so upbeat that her tour manager is nervous for Dua to perform the album, leaving her moving nonstop. But Dua wanted to follow-up her Grammy-winning debut album with a record that felt true to herself.
āThat was one of the things that everybody kept saying: āOh thereās this crazy pressure with the second albumā¦ā And I understand that, ā¦ but when I went into the studio all I wanted to do was make songs that made me feel good and that made me feel happy and even if itās like a dance-crying kind of song, like, by the end of it, I still wanted to be dancing so it kind of took that pressure off because I was just making music that I just loved ā¦ and I feel good about it.ā
So when can we expect album No. 2?
āWeāll have bits trickling in,ā Dua concluded. āBut the album comes out next year.ā
