A Bar In Spain Banned This Popular Sing-Along Song Due To COVID Concerns

While we're still a ways away from going back to bars here in the US and in Los Angeles specifically, some other places around the world are starting to lift some restrictions and pubs and bars are reopening.

In Spain, though, one pub has decided that upon reopening they are banning one song that is an all-time favorite for singing along: 'Sweet Caroline' by Neil Diamond.

Of course many food and drink service places have had to make changes to their business in order to make safety a priority as the world comes out of this pandemic... but this one might be the hardest for pub-goers to handle!

No singing 'Sweet Caroline' at the top of their lungs at JUST the right moment of the night when everyone is *feeling it*?! Say it ain't so!

Why is the song banned? Well, a hilarious sign announcing the restriction states:

“Due to COVID-19, Sweet Caroline is banned. There will be no: touching hands, reaching out, touching me, touching you.”

The sign announcing the ban of the fan-favorite song was posted on Facebook by Linda Carroll in Corralejo, Spain:

While the sign does appear to be a joke, it is a great way to remind guests about the importance of social distancing.

On the bright side, it has been reported that pubs in the U.K. and Ireland are allowing karaoke right now as bars and such reopen, but the staff at the pubs have to assure that guests are maintaining social distancing.

I have to say - I don't think I would EVER want to share one of those karaoke microphones ever again, though!! It's worth noting, researchers actually believe that you release MORE respiratory droplets when you sing than when you speak, sooo it's something to keep in mind when bars, restaurants and karaoke spots open up again!

What is your go-to karaoke song?! Yap me below!
